FDA Issues Recall of 60 Ice Cream Products from 13 Different Brand

The recall, announced on June 29, 2024, comes after routine testing revealed potential contamination issues that could pose serious health risks to consumers.

This sweeping recall affects a wide range of popular ice cream brands and flavors, sparking concerns among consumers and industry experts alike.

The recall was prompted by the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacterium that can cause severe illness.

Listeria is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

In severe cases, it can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or life-threatening infections in newborns.

The contamination was discovered during routine testing conducted by the FDA.

The supplier, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently cooperating with the FDA to address the issue and prevent further contamination.
